dining

On the Square:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Bourbon Street Grill - Doesn't get much better than this!  Enjoy delicious Cajun food while perched on the front porch, high above Dahlonega's town square.  A great place to sip wine and watch the sun set...
--------------------------------------------------------------
Connie's Ice Cream Parlor and Sandwich Shop - Sweet tea?  Check.  Friendly service?  Check.  Hand-dipped ice cream cones?  Yes - just don't be surprised if there's a line out the door in warmer weather!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Corkscrew Cafe - One of Kranberry Kathy's favorites.  Located right next door to the Holly Theater, so you better make reservations if it's a show night!  Their Pork Chop dinner is to-die-for:  triple nut crusted with a fig demi-glaze, served with mashed potato du jour and asparagus.  Yes, please!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dahlonega Dessertery - If you're in need of an early-morning coffee, this is where you need to go.  If you're currently dieting, this is where you do NOT need to go.  Their desserts are downright sinful.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dante's on the Square - A bright and sunny place to eat while shopping on the square.  Delicious Carribean-flavor fare.  Everything from crab fritters to  yummy 'reggae burgers'...
--------------------------------------------------------------
DuMond's Patio Grille - Barbecue.  Delicious Barbecue.  Nuff said.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Gustavo's Pizzeria -Your best bet for on the square pizza.  Might need to get it to go, they have limited seating.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Oyster Bar - Coastal North-Carolina cuisine with a relaxing beach-y decor...
--------------------------------------------------------------
Piazza Italian Restaurant - Gourmet Italian cuisine you would expect to find in a fancy Atlanta restaurant.  Wonderful salad to start every meal.  This is a great place to take a date!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Porterhouse - Nice and cozy, love the ambiance.  This is the sister-restaurant to Piazza, so expect the same great salad and their specialty: USDA Angus Steaks and Seafood...
--------------------------------------------------------------
Shenanigans Irish Pub - Drink a Guinness with the locals!  This is THE place to be if you want to chill out and eat good Irish pub food.  Relaxing outdoor covered patio and open-air deck.  Coolest wait-staff in town.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The Crimson Moon - Wanna eat a meal in one of Dahlonega's oldest buildings?  The same building where Zac Brown used to play, and where you currently might find Shawn Mullins or the Indigo Girls performing?  Thought so.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The Front Porch - Another great view of the Dahlonega square, open only during lunch and closed during the winter months.  This is the place to take young kids for a hot dog or grilled cheese.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The Smith House - A Dahlonega restaurant classic located in a historic building above a recently discovered secret gold shaft!  Family style seating - that means you sit at big ole' tables with strangers.  Southern-style meals, served up in bowls, and passed around from person-to-person.

Off the Square:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Danny's -  A total locals hang-out that Serves up buffet-style meat + 3's.  If you're visiting Dahlonega on  a Thursday, choose the turkey and dressing - but be sure to show up early because they might sell out!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dipper Dan's - Open since...forever??? A total local's hang-out.  Delicious old-school burgers, fries - and you guessed it, hand-dipped ice cream.
--------------------------------------------------------------
El Jimador  (formerly El Maguey) - Located right beside the entrance to North Georgia College, so beware!  You might be sitting next to a table of sorority girls and cadets!  Roberto and his family have been serving up delicious Mexican food in this cool old building for years - they'll make you feel like family!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Just off the Square - Located less than a block from the traffic light and a great Dahlonega breakfast restaurant.  Quaint, friendly service, total breakfast comfort-food.
--------------------------------------------------------------
LeVigne Ristorante at Monteluce - Fancy shmancy and delicious Italian fare; this is the restaurant at Monteluce Vineyards.  You will not be disappointed!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Pueblos Mexican Cuisine - Located near the traffic light; another of Dahlonega's popular Mexican restaurants...Muy bien margaritas!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Robyn's Nest Grill - This restaurant used to be located on the square, but moved to the Wal-mart shopping center a few years ago.  Here's the low-down:  delicious burgers,  delicious fries,  99% local clientele.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Smokin' Gold Barbecue - Brisket is to die for - it'll make you want to slap yo mama!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Smokin Dave's Barbecue - Another great Dahlonega Barbecue restaurant.  What does Kranberry Kathy think is their best dish?  The Pig Stickers:  a particular cut of pork that is very flavorful, tender and without alot of fat...
--------------------------------------------------------------
Sushi Moto - Just as you're beginning to climb the hill as you enter D-town in one of the very first little shopping centers on the left is a sushi restaurant that is really, really good.  For real.  You would not expect it in a North Georgia Mountain town, but trust Kranberry Kathy - it's delish:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Coming Soon:  A new restaurant at Turner's Corner!  The location is a hidden gem, you will feel blissful as you dine at this future riverfront cafe that's in a reallllly cool, old building.  Located at the very tip of Lumpkin County, so there's not much else around...but the scenery along the drive to Turner's Corner is worth-it!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Wagon Wheel Restaurant - A breakfast and meat + 3 that serves country comfort food buffet-style.  Great bacon in the morning.  Dear heads on the wall.  It's looked the same since the 1970's.  99% locals.
